CBT Opens, Listings, and “You Can’t Just Read the Headline”

Please join us this weekend at Philly’s best homes

    CITY BLOCK LOCAL:
You Can’t Just Read The Headlines

If you read this recent Philly.com headline, “It’s A Buyers’ Market In Philly, Zillow Says”, you might think that Philly is in fact a buyers’ market. That would be logical, after all that is the exact title. The problem is that when it comes to Greater Center City, University City, and other areas of Philly where most of my clients live, you would be incorrect.  With exceptionally low inventory and generally few days on market, these areas are definitely not buyers markets and many are strong sellers’ markets.

I would not call this fake news. The article is actually informative and accurate.  But the headline is misleading as by “Philly” they actually mean the entire region, including the New Jersey and PA suburbs.  For example, the top buyers’ markets named in the study are Pennsauken, Waterford, Pennsville Township, West Deptford Township and Deptford Township.  Really?  Are these the areas you think of when you read a  headline about Philly’s real estate market?  Probably not. You can’t just read the headline.
